SNAPSHOT: Mungkilat Falls

After summiting Mt. Napulauan, the majestic Mungkilat Falls will be accessible via the Balentimol Trail. The trail going down to the 50 meter high waterfall consists of very narrow mountain side trails that drops down into a cliff on one side. Named as such because of its lightning shaped cascades of water flowing down several boulders that translates to the Ifugao word ‘Mungkilat’ meaning kidlat/lighting.

How To Get There:

 Take an Ohayami Bus Line bound for Banaue, Ifugao, it usually leaves at 9:00pm and 10:00pm daily. Terminal is at A.H. Lacson cor. Fajardo St., Sampaloc Manila (Near the University of Sto. Tomas). Alternately, Dangwa Bus Lines also plies this route and leaves at the same time, Terminal is at Kamias, Cubao. (Travel Time is 10-11hrs)

● Once you are in Banaue, Ifugao charter a jeep that will take you to the Hungduan Visitor Center to register and secure your guides before proceeding to the Poblacion jump-off point. (Travel Time is 45mins – 1hr)

● Trek time from Sitio Balentimol to Mungkilat Falls takes around 2-3hrs.

● Trek time for the Poblacion jump-off to Mt. Napulauan summit is 6-7hrs, from Hapao is 8-9hrs, and from Balentimol is 7-8hrs.
